Video leak scandal at Lahore's Lady Willingdon Hospital: Medical tribunal grants relief to 2 suspended medics

In Pakistan, a medical tribunal has made interim orders allowing two postgraduate doctors accused of misconduct to continue their studies and sit for final exams, pending the outcome of their legal appeal. The doctors, Dr Tayyaba Fatima Toor and Dr Muhammad Essa, were among five postgraduate trainees involved in a video leak scandal from Lahore's Lady Willingdon Hospital.

According to the tribunal, they have already completed most of their postgraduate training and will take their final exams within four months. The three-member tribunal, headed by retired Justice Safdar Saleem Shahid, granted them interim relief to continue their academic pursuits and exams, but their professional licenses remain suspended for two years.

The tribunal emphasized that this decision is provisional and does not permit them to practice medicine independently during this period. The five trainees involved in the "OT video leak scandal" had initially appeared in preliminary proceedings with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), leading to the suspension of their medical registration licences.

The current legal challenge before the Medical Tribunal focuses on the doctors' applications for interim relief, separate from the merits of their appeals.
