UAE warns public against AI deepfake scams impersonating HR Ministry officials

Dubai: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) is cautioning the public against deepfake scams that utilize advanced artificial intelligence to create convincing fraudulent videos, voice recordings, and images. These scams aim to impersonate MoHRE officials, deceiving individuals into disclosing sensitive information or transferring funds. The ministry emphasized that "don't be fooled. What you see may not be real" in its awareness campaign.

To safeguard against these deceptive practices, the MoHRE advised the public to always verify any requests, announcements, or communications through its official channels before taking any action. They should refrain from sharing personal or banking information in response to unverified messages or calls and should scrutinize the authenticity of links before clicking on them.

This warning unfolds as artificial intelligence technology becomes increasingly adept at manipulating or generating realistic-looking images, video, and audio, thereby complicating the ability of recipients to distinguish genuine communications from fraudulent ones.
