UAE leads Middle East private capital market as investor confidence surges

Dubai: The UAE has solidified its position as the leading private capital market in the Middle East, according to a recent report by BlackRock's Aladdin technology platform. This surge in investor confidence and confidence in the region can be attributed to the country's economic transformation initiatives, burgeoning infrastructure investment, and the emergence of sophisticated investment institutions.

The report, titled "Markets in Motion: Middle East," underscores a significant shift from the region being primarily an exporter of capital to a destination that is increasingly attractive for private capital investment within the region itself.

One striking statistic from the study revealed that Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds are allocating a substantial 43% of their investments to private capital, a figure that surpasses the global average of 35%. This surge in confidence is also reflected in the growing appetite for private equity among Middle Eastern investors. In 2026, 83% of limited partners expressed a positive outlook toward private equity mandates, up from 70% in 2019. Globally, this figure only increased marginally to 61% over the same period.

Family offices play a pivotal role in the Middle East's private capital landscape, accounting for approximately half of the active private capital investors. Their investment intentions are diverse, with private equity representing 27% of their future investment plans, followed by real estate (19%), private credit (16%), infrastructure (14%), hedge funds (13%), and natural resources (11%).

Ayman Daif, Managing Director and Head of Aladdin Business Development for the Middle East, Central Asia, Africa, and India, emphasized that the region is experiencing a structural transformation driven by the deployment of more capital domestically. This transformation is further supported by the continuous development of investment ecosystems.

Looking ahead, Daif anticipates that collaboration between sovereign wealth funds, family offices, and investment managers, along with the wider adoption of technology, will shape the next phase of growth.
