Texas A&M sophomore DL has been one of the Aggies' best defenders

Texas A&M's defensive line has faced difficulties during their first three games, particularly evident in their recent 31-21 home defeat against Kentucky. The Wildcats' rushing attack gained over 150 yards, contributed to two touchdowns from Texas transfer running back CJ Baxter, and exposed the struggles of the Aggies' defense.

Throughout the broadcast and subsequent game analysis, it became clear that the D-line was heavily dominated. However, sophomore defensive tackle Landon Rink has emerged as one of the program's most consistent defenders, alongside senior DL DJ Hicks and senior cornerback Dezz Ricks. According to Pro Football Focus, Rink was the Aggies' top-ranked defender against Kentucky, earning an 81.3 defensive grade, 79.5 run defense grade, and 73.2 tackling grade.

While size, strength, and athleticism are crucial for defensive linemen in the SEC, Rink's consistent physicality and most importantly, heart, have demonstrated starter-level ability during his second season. Despite limited statistics, Rink has been the best run defender on the D-line, providing plus plays on every snap. Against Kentucky, he recorded three tackles and three stops, earning his place on the field.

As the team prepares for their upcoming game against LSU in Baton Rouge, it is expected that Rink and freshman DL Bryce Perry-Wright will see increased playing time, especially if the regular starters struggle to start the game.
