Saints place Banks on IR, reach injury settlement with Estime and sign long snapper Adomitis

The New Orleans Saints have placed starting left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. on injured reserve after he underwent surgery to treat a high ankle sprain. The injury occurred during a game against the Baltimore Ravens, when Baltimore edge rusher Mike Green struck Banks while diving to sack Saints' Tyler Shough. Banks, a ninth overall draft pick from Texas, has been the team's starting left tackle from the beginning of his rookie season.

Following his injury, Banks will be sidelined for four games but is expected to return to action by early December.

Additionally, the Saints have reached an injury resolution with third-year NFL running back Audric Estime. Estime's preseason began strongly, as he scored a 9-yard touchdown to seal the Saints' first possession against Jacksonville. However, he suffered a thigh injury during that same game and was subsequently placed on injured reserve when the regular season commenced.

To fill the void left by Estime's injury, the Saints signed long snapper Cal Adomitis, a seasoned fifth-year NFL player. Adomitis will step in while Zach Wood, the team's long snapper for the past nine seasons, recuperates from a calf injury. Adomitis had a nine-game stint with Philadelphia last season and started his NFL career as an undrafted rookie with Cincinnati in 2022.
