Residents recount tense moments after Damai Perdana landslide

Block D residents at Pangsapuri Damai Perdana apartment complex experienced a sudden and tense situation last night when a slope near their apartment gave way. Fitri Abu Seman, 35, and his mother-in-law Anum Shariff, 73, were enjoying drinks at a restaurant opposite their home when they noticed the landslide around 8:48pm. They immediately reported the incident to the Fire and Rescue Department for assistance.

This was the first time such an event had occurred at the apartment complex. Earlier, a landslide had been reported at a nearby secondary school. Fitri and his family decided to stay at home for now, as their block had not been severely affected. They expressed hope that the authorities would arrange an alternative water supply after the main water pipe was temporarily shut off to prevent further soil movement.

Muhammad Syakir Nabil Azman, 32, another resident, rushed home after receiving a call from his wife who informed him of the landslide. His family temporarily moved to his mother-in-law's home in Taman Tun Perak. Syakir noted that there were no tremors or movement in the building during the incident, only a sight of muddy water gushing from the landslide area. The cause of the landslide was attributed to an underground water leak.
