SPRM revealed that the Malaysian police, being the largest civil service, received rewards for reporting or accepting bribery between 2012 and 2025. A total of RM1.18 million was given to 652 civil servants as recognition for such actions. Abd Halim Aman, the SPRM Chairman, stated that the police were among the top four agencies with the highest number of recognized individuals.

For the police, 437 individuals received recognition, while immigration officials received recognition for 64, the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency for 33, and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Welfare for 21. Among the high-profile cases, a police officer in Perlis refused a RM200,000 bribery offer related to a 1.8-ton seizure, and another police officer in Johor rejected a RM45,000 bribe.

For the assessment cycle of 2026, up to 54 civil servants from the four enforcement agencies will be proposed by the assessment secretariat, including 38 police officers, MBIP (12), Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) (3), and immigration (1). The 2025 assessment included 30 statements with a total of RM304,621 worth of bribery attempts.

All candidates passed SPRM's scrutiny and police records review to ensure they meet the required qualifications. Out of these, 529 individuals received awards with certificates, while 123 received commendation certificates. Candidates must make a formal complaint about receiving or accepting bribery and fully cooperate with SPRM investigators until the legal proceedings are concluded.

This recognition initiative is extended not only to enforcement agencies but to the entire civil service, especially revenue officers, to encourage them to come forward and report information to curb bribery activities.
