Pemimpin Warisan cadang ‘manifesto’ Sabah-Sarawak perjuang kepentingan bersama

Former Malaysian Vice President Junz Wong has proposed the creation of a joint "manifesto" for Sabah and Sarawak to advocate for their mutual interests under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). Speaking at the "Unity in Diversity" forum at Universiti HELP, Wong emphasized that both states share numerous issues and need to work closely together.

"We must collaborate 100% and we should also have a joint manifesto tackling matters we all fight for," Wong stated, adding that issues they fight for are not only for Sabah and Sarawak but for Malaysia as a whole. When asked by MP Larry Sng about whether Sabah will receive a fair share from any decisions under MA63 in the near future, Wong said it depends on the political development in Malaysia Barat and Sabah's capacity to unite politically and collaborate with Sarawak.

He further highlighted the need for economic cooperation between the two East Malaysian states to ensure a shared future in the next five years. The idea of a Borneo bloc emerged in 2010 as a unified political party when Jeffrey Kitingan from Solidariti Tanah Airku announced the formation of Barisan Borneo Bersatu to fight for Sabah and Sarawak's rights under MA63.

This idea resurfaced after the departure of government parties from the National Front in 2018. Recently, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that the Constitution will be amended to enhance Sabah and Sarawak's representation in Parliament in line with MA63. Other unresolved issues include Sabah's rights to 40% of net proceeds and Sarawak's claims on petroleum.
