Pemimpin Warisan cadang ‘manifesto’ Sabah-Sarawak perjuang kepentingan bersama

Warisan Vice President Junz Wong has proposed that the Sabah and Sarawak governments consider drafting a joint manifesto to promote their shared interests under Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). Described as a new attempt to form a Borneo bloc, Wong said both states have many common issues and need to work closely together. "We need 100% cooperation.

We should also have a joint manifesto discussing the same issues for both states and Malaysia, not just Sabah and Sarawak," he said at a forum titled Unity in Diversity at HELP University recently. Wong responded to a question from Julau MP Larry Sng about whether Sabah would receive a fair share of what is approved under MA63 in the near future.

He said this depends on the political developments in Malaysia and Sabah's ability to unite politically and cooperate with Sarawak. Former state minister, Wong added that cooperation between the two states in Malaysia should focus on jointly pursuing economic and shared goals for the next five years. The idea of the Borneo bloc emerged in 2010 as a union of political parties when Jeffrey Kitingan of the Solidariti Tanah Airku Party announced the formation of the Borneo United Front to advocate for Sabah and Sarawak's interests under MA63.

This idea resurfaced following the exit of Sarawak government parties from the National Front in 2018. Recently, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the Perlembagaan Persekutuan will be revised to increase the representation of Sabah and Sarawak in Parliament in line with MA63. Other unresolved issues include Sabah's claim to 40% of net proceeds and Sarawak's petroleum-related claims.
