Otti, Achebe caution Ohanaeze against partisan politics

Abia State Governor Alex Otti and the Obi of Onitsha, Nnaemeka Achebe, have urged Ohanaeze Ndigbo to refocus and avoid partisan politics as the organization celebrates its 50th anniversary. Speaking at the unveiling of a book titled "Ohanaeze at 50 – The Burden of Memory, The Politics of Relevance," Otti emphasized the need for honest reflection and renewal in the organization.

He highlighted the importance of building institutions capable of responding to the aspirations of younger generations and urged the adoption of technology, innovation, and engagement with the global Igbo diaspora. Achebe, on the other hand, stressed that Ohanaeze must return to its role as a socio-cultural organization and remain above partisan politics, warning against the fragmentation of the Igbo and its impact on their position in Nigeria and globally.

He called on the Igbo people to develop a collective agenda that transcends political affiliations and treat the book as a mirror to strengthen the organization.
