Okonkwo excited for Madagascar, Guinea-Bissau clashes

Nigeria goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo expressed his excitement for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau. This marks his first involvement in Nigeria’s national team camp, which he described as a "dream come true." Okonkwo, who joined the squad after making his senior international debut in May, is eager to learn from his more experienced teammates, Stanley Nwabali and Maduka Okoye.

Since his move from Wrexham to Charlton Athletic on loan, Okonkwo has been performing well in the Championship, recording three clean sheets in his opening six league appearances. The competition for the starting goalkeeping position remains fierce, with Nwabali and Okoye vying for the spot. Okonkwo emphasized his focus on Nigeria's performance and winning the qualifiers, rather than the individual battle for the gloves.

Nigeria will face Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on September 25, followed by a match against Guinea-Bissau four days later.
