Odaudu, Offia anticipate Rivers Hoopers BAL return

Rivers Hoopers coach Ogoh Odaudu and new NPBL Most Valuable Player Abel Offia are already anticipating a return to the Basketball Africa League after reclaiming Nigeria's national title and securing the country's sole spot in the continental competition. The KingsMen achieved a flawless Final Four campaign, defeating Maktown Flyers 92-90 in overtime at Port Harcourt, which secured their position in the NPBL.

Odaudu expressed his delight at the team's success, stating that they are excited about returning to Africa's premier club basketball competition. Offia, who was named the tournament MVP, shared his excitement about playing in the BAL, crediting the home fans for their support during the challenging match. The Hoopers' fans' encouragement, particularly when they were down by 12 points, proved crucial in the game.

Offia expressed his eagerness to return to the BAL with the same team and aims to reach the playoffs this time around. The KingsMen needed overtime to defeat Maktown Flyers, who had previously denied them the title in a close 74-72 game last year. Maktown dominated the first half but Rivers Hoopers responded with a strong third-quarter surge, setting up a tense finish.

Peter Olisemeka led the scoring with 16 points and 18 rebounds, while Tunisian guard Omar Abada contributed 17 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Offia and teammates Olisemeka and Abada were recognized in the NPBL All-Star Five, demonstrating the team's dominance during the Final Four.
