Mobile and Internet Services Will be Suspended in These Areas of Punjab

The Punjab government has requested temporary restrictions on mobile and internet services in certain areas of Rawalpindi and Attock starting September 27, as part of security measures for anticipated law-and-order situations. This decision was communicated to the Federal Ministry of Interior via a letter from the Punjab Home Department.

Authorities are seeking to downgrade and jam 2G, 3G, and 4G networks in designated locations within Rawalpindi and throughout Attock district. The request is not for a province-wide shutdown, but rather for specific areas, with the precise dates and times to be communicated later. The areas affected include Brahma Bahtar Ganjoo, Ahata Taxila City, Wah Saddar, Thallian, Chakri in Rawalpindi City, and the entire M-1 and surrounding routes.

Additionally, all of Attock district will experience downgraded mobile and internet services. The Home Department stated that the action was requested by police to assist in maintaining law and order. The primary goal is to protect the lives and property of the public, which remains the top priority for the provincial government.

Before the restrictions can be implemented, the necessary actions must be taken by relevant federal authorities.
