Mahershala Ali Agrees That Marvel’s Scrapped ‘Blade’ Reboot Is Kevin Feige’s “Biggest Failure”

In an interview with GQ, Mahershala Ali expressed his agreement with Kevin Feige regarding their feelings of failure over the MCU project "Blade" never coming to fruition. The conversation took place in a piece published Tuesday, discussing Ali's new film "Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother." After numerous attempts, Feige ultimately admitted that the film had failed and was one of his biggest career disappointments.

Ali acknowledged the situation by stating, "They had, as you said, a two-time Oscar-winning actor under contract and you got billions of dollars," adding that he didn't know the reason behind the project's downfall. He emphasized that he respected Feige's sentiments, saying, "To this day, I don’t know why it didn't happen. I just know that it was – Kevin, he said it was the biggest failure of his career and I agree."

Ali, who has only made a few films in the past eight years, reflected on the missed opportunity, stating that he had moved on from the role. He expressed that if the project had been meant for him, they would have pursued it.
