Landslide forces Cheras apartment residents out of their homes, underground water leak suspected

Last night, an apartment complex in Bandar Damai Perdana, Cheras, was evacuated due to a landslide near the building, which is believed to be a result of an underground water leak. The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department's assistant operations director, Ashrul Riezal Asbar, reported that residents of Block A were ordered to evacuate as a precautionary measure after receiving an emergency call at 9:03pm.

A team of five personnel from the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn Fire and Rescue Station arrived on the scene eight minutes later and discovered a landslide involving a 4.57-metre-high slope. The soil had slid 0.91 metres into the collapse area. Ashrul Riezal observed that water was still flowing in the area, but no additional soil movement had been detected.

The rescue team is actively monitoring the soil condition and water flow to ensure safety at the scene. The Public Works Department has been notified to take further action. There were no casualties or injuries reported from the incident.
