It’s official, Javier Aguirre returns to LaLiga as Valencia boss

Valencia CF have confirmed the appointment of Javier Aguirre as their new head coach for the first team. The Mexican manager will take charge of Mestalla with the primary goal of revitalising the squad's LaLiga campaign. Aguirre departs from his role with the Mexico national team following the World Cup. The 67-year-old coach has signed a contract with Valencia until the end of the season, with automatic renewal options based on meeting specific performance criteria.

Despite his advanced age, Aguirre brings extensive experience and a profound understanding of Spanish football to the table. His managerial history in Spain includes time at clubs such as Osasuna, Atlético de Madrid, Real Zaragoza, RCD Espanyol, and Real Mallorca. The club's sporting director, Braulio Vázquez, is confident that Aguirre's competitive mindset will provide immediate stability and tactical reliability.

The coaching staff, whose composition is yet to be announced, is expected to shore up the team ahead of the challenging fixtures ahead. Aguirre will begin preparing for his official debut as Valencia's head coach during the pre-season break.
