Italy police find 3 million euros stashed in mobster's house

Italian authorities discovered more than three million euros in cash hidden within the walls of a suspected drug lord's residence in Caivano, a northeastern Naples suburb. The raid, prompted by a tip-off from a state witness, also revealed Kalashnikovs, other weapons, and 11 Rolex watches. The operation was part of an investigation initiated in 2023, which concluded with the arrest of 34 individuals allegedly linked to an armed criminal association and narcotic trafficking.

The cash and weapons were seized from the Caivano property last year. The informant, arrested in July 2025, informed police that the money was guarded by the drug lord's wife and her underage children, who monitored it in 24-hour shifts. Wiretaps played a crucial role in the investigation, however, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's government has recently imposed restrictions on their use.
