‘I had to drive off to safety’ – Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah on why he fled after High Court clash

Manhyia South legislator and lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah fled the Accra High Court on Wednesday due to safety concerns. The confrontation took place after the court adjourned Ms Baffoe Awiti's bail application. Nana Awuah attempted to find out why she was seeking to arrest him, but she couldn't produce an arrest warrant. He believed it was a kidnapping sponsored by the state and decided to leave to protect himself and his family, including his four-year-old daughter who awaits her mother's release.

Nana Awuah drove to Parliament, where his colleagues joined him, and he will also attend parliamentary committee work. The woman attempted to abduct him en route to Parliament as well. The circumstances of the incident, including the identities and authority of the security personnel involved, remain unclear. The High Court has postponed Ms Baffoe Awiti's bail application until September 24 for the prosecution to respond to the defense's application.

The police claim she is accused of spreading false information about the Ghana Jollof TikTok account.
