Harvey Weinstein resentenced to 15 years in prison for 2006 sex assault

Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for a sexual assault committed against a former assistant, Miriam Haley. The verdict came after a jury found him guilty of a criminal sexual act in 2024, overturning his 2020 conviction due to a perceived unfair trial. In a victim impact statement, Haley described the profound and lasting impact the assault had on her life and sense of security.

Weinstein, appearing in court in a wheelchair, denied the allegations but apologized to anyone he may have hurt by his actions. He has previously served six years in prison for similar charges and holds a separate conviction for sex crimes in Los Angeles. Weinstein has faced three trials in New York over rape and abuse allegations, with the 2020 trial hearing testimony from Haley, actress Jessica Mann, and model Kaja Sokola.
