GPS disruptions hit some Embraer aircraft, including E2 jets

Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has been alerted to reports of GPS system instability impacting certain aircraft models, including the E2 family, according to a statement from the company. Embraer is actively monitoring the situation in collaboration with operators and the equipment manufacturer, while providing technical support to customers and taking necessary steps to resolve the issue.

Although the occurrence may disrupt airline operational schedules, there is no impact on flight safety, as the affected aircraft are equipped with navigation systems and procedures that enable them to operate under conditions of GPS system instability.

The global E2 fleet relies on navigation systems and procedures that facilitate operations even when GPS signals are disrupted. Honeywell Aerospace, whose equipment is installed on the affected aircraft, confirmed awareness of the issue affecting aircraft globally due to GPS signal reception problems. Honeywell's teams are actively assessing the matter to identify the root cause.

Brazilian carrier Azul reported that instability has affected the operation of its E2 fleet. In response, Azul has implemented operational measures that may lead to adjustments in its route network and the schedules of certain flights. Flight-tracking service Flightradar24 reported on Wednesday that Azul's E2 aircraft have resumed flights.
