General : Asian Games: Taj Izrin Aiman’s Gold-medal Feat An Example For Youth - PM Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 Sept — Malaysia's Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim lauded national e-sports athlete Taj Izrin Aiman Taj Madira after he secured the country's second gold medal at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games held in Japan. In a Facebook post, Anwar expressed pride in Taj Izrin Aiman's victory in the Gran Turismo 7 event, stating that his achievement should motivate the country's youth.

"This success should be an example to our young people. If you want to play games, do it in a way that makes the country proud, just like Taj Izrin Aiman. Congratulations! We are proud of this achievement," Anwar stated. The prime minister, who is currently on an official visit to China, pledged to continue following the progress of Malaysia's athletes competing in the Games.

"Insya-Allah, amid my busy schedule during the visit to China, I will continue to follow the progress of our athletes. Keep fighting, Malaysia!" Anwar added. Malaysia is participating in nine out of the 11 e-sports events at the Games, with the Malaysia Esports Federation (MESF) aiming for a minimum of five medals. The country's highest e-sports achievement prior to this was silver at the 2022 Hangzhou edition of the Asian Games through the Arena of Valor squad and bronze through Dota 2. The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games began last Saturday and will continue until October 4.
