Focus on Kano, stop insulting Benue people, Alia’s aide tells Kwankwaso

Chief Press Secretary to the Benue State Governor, Tersoo Kula, has urged former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso to concentrate on political issues in his home state and cease insulting the people of Benue. Kula described Kwankwaso's recent criticism of Governor Hyacinth Alia as an "unfortunate and unwarranted insult" that hindered constructive political discourse.

Kwankwaso had previously criticized Alia for disrupting Peter Obi's visit to Benue, accusing the governor of allowing the incident. Kula stated that the Benue Government recognized Kwankwaso's "misplaced grudge" against Alia, which he attributed to Obi's unauthorized visit to the state. Kula alleged that the controversy surrounding Obi's visit was deliberately orchestrated to tarnish Alia's reputation.

Despite the Benue Government denying prior knowledge of Obi's visit and rejecting allegations of sponsoring the youths who blocked his convoy, the police reported 46 arrests in connection with the blockade. Kula emphasized that Alia, like all governors, was elected by the people of Benue, and their mandate should be respected. He also criticized Kwankwaso for commenting on the relationship between Alia and Senator George Akume, urging him to focus on political challenges in Kano.
