Ema raises $77M in funding to deploy AI employees across enterprise HR, IT and finance departments

Agentic artificial intelligence employee startup Ema Unlimited Inc. has secured $77 million in funding for a massive expansion of its autonomous workers in the enterprise. The Series B round was led by Creagis, with participation from existing backers Accel, S32 and Posus. Ema will use the funds to accelerate the development of its AI agents, which help automate business operations across HR, IT and finance departments.

Unlike traditional generative AI chatbots, Ema's agents are designed to take actions upon request and execute complex tasks within enterprise software systems. They plan how to do the tasks, execute them within existing applications and systems, and check their own work before notifying human overseers when required to approve sensitive actions.

Ema's product-led approach to agentic AI development allows customers to implement prebuilt AI employees in specific areas like HR or finance without expensive professional services or designing their own governance and control frameworks. The startup's tools and frameworks enable customers to design their own specialized employees, streamlining agentic AI adoption.

In the last two years, Ema's revenue has grown more than 50 times, and the average customer has doubled its spending on AI workers in the past year by expanding initial deployments. Co-founder and CEO Surojit Chatterjee says enterprise customers don't want to deal with software integration hassles; they just want to get work done with qualified, deployment-ready digital employees.

Ema's AI employees have helped customers, including consulting firm Wipro Ltd. and Hitachi Ltd., reduce IT support tickets, increase employee efficiency, and integrate with multiple enterprise systems. Creagis Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer Prakash Parthasarathy praises Ema as one of few agentic AI companies capable of delivering enterprise-scale solutions.
