Eight Sleep launches Pod 6 smart mattress cover with 20% faster cooling and next-gen biometric tracking — sleep apnea detection coming

Eight Sleep has unveiled its latest innovation, the Pod 6 smart mattress cover, priced between $1,999 and £1,799. This new cover boasts a 20% faster cooling, enhanced biometric tracking with nine times more sensors, and a smaller under-bed Hub. It’s the first Pod to be available in twin/single sizes, making it accessible to solo sleepers for the first time.

Matt Matteo Franceschetti, Co-founder & CEO at Eight Sleep, expressed excitement about Pod 6, stating that it embodies their mission to enhance human potential through optimal sleep. Franceschetti mentioned they've tested sleep tech extensively, and if Pod 6 can deliver on its new features, it will make lab-grade sleep optimization accessible to everyday people.

The Pod 6's redesigned thermoelectric coolers deliver 550W of power per side, 20% faster than the previous generation Pod 5. The new cover features 18 embedded sensors, a significant increase from the previous 2, enabling precise biometric tracking even when sharing a bed with a partner, child, or pet. The Pod 6 also introduces a Solo size for single sleepers or couples, starting at $1,999.

The Pod 6 is set to replace the previous Pod 5 generation across 37 launch countries. In addition to faster cooling and improved biometric tracking, the Pod 6 includes pregnancy mode for tailored thermal regulation and biometric tracking during pregnancy. Most notably, the Pod 6 has filed for FDA clearance to detect and mitigate sleep apnea, a condition affecting an estimated one billion people globally.
