Badrinath Dham Records Highest-Ever Footfall With Over 17.79 Lakh Pilgrims This Year

Dehradun: In a remarkable achievement, Badrinath Dham has recorded its highest-ever footfall with over 17.79 lakh pilgrims visiting the shrine this year. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Char Dham Yatra has set new records, with Badrinath Dham surpassing all previous milestones. On September 22, the shrine's portals will close for the winter, leaving around one-and-a-half to nearly two months remaining.

As of September 22, the pilgrimage had already created a new record in just 153 days. In 2000, the year Uttarakhand was established, only 695,332 pilgrims visited Badrinath Dham. The figure increased to 768,107 in 2007, then crossed the 1-million mark in 2008, 2010, 2018, and 2019. However, the devastating disaster of 2014 reduced the number to 159,575 pilgrims.

The COVID-19 pandemic further impacted the numbers, with visits ranging between 150,000 and 200,000 in 2020 and 2021. Since 2022, the number of devotees visiting Lord Badri Vishal has continued to set new records under the Dhami government. In 2022, 1,763,578 devotees visited Badrinath, followed by 1,780,429 in 2023, 1,774,264 in 2024, and a record 1,778,298 devotees in 2025.

Improved pilgrimage management and expanded facilities have contributed to the increasing daily footfall, with 6,685 pilgrims having darshan at Badrinath Dham on a recent Tuesday. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening pilgrim facilities and providing a comfortable experience for devotees, guided by the Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji.
