Autopsy shows Hayden Panettiere died from a drug overdose

Actress Hayden Panettiere tragically passed away at the age of 36, as determined by an autopsy conducted by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office in South Carolina. The official cause of death was found to be a toxic combination of fentanyl, Xanax, and other drugs within her system. The coroner’s office confirmed that the circumstances surrounding her demise were accidental and reported no physical trauma that could have contributed to her passing.

Panettiere had previously spoken candidly about her ongoing battle with substance abuse. Her body also contained traces of methocarbamol, a prescription muscle relaxant, and quetiapine, an antipsychotic medication used to manage mental health conditions. Fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid, has been responsible for thousands of deaths across the United States in recent years.

Emergency responders had attempted to administer advanced cardiac life support, but their efforts were ultimately unsuccessful. The US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has joined forces with local law enforcement to investigate the circumstances surrounding Panettiere’s death. At the scene, Panettiere’s ex-boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, who has admitted to his own abusive behavior towards her, and his brother, Zack, were present when emergency services arrived.

Just months prior to her death, Panettiere had released a memoir detailing her struggles with addiction and postpartum depression. She revealed that she was introduced to drugs at the age of 16 during a red carpet event for her TV show Heroes, when a member of her professional team offered her a "happy pill" purportedly intended to boost her energy.

Panettiere expressed regret, stating that she was unaware of the negative consequences of her drug use, which ultimately spiraled out of control as she grew older. Tragically, Panettiere's brother, Jansen, had also lost his life at the age of 28 due to a heart condition. In her book, Panettiere revealed that her brother had also struggled with substance abuse, using heroin and cocaine in the years leading up to his death.
