Asutifi District Police caution Okada, pragia riders against reckless riding

The Asutifi District Police Command in Ghana's Ahafo Region has issued a warning to commercial motorbike (Okada) and pragia riders in Kenyasi to avoid reckless driving and other traffic violations. District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Harold Opoku Yamoah Ponkor, emphasized that unsafe riding habits contribute to fatal accidents.

During a free DVLA registration event organized by the Asutifi North Member of Parliament, Ponkor appealed to riders to be more cautious and adhere to traffic rules. He noted that despite prior warnings, certain commercial motorbike and pragia operators persist in disregarding safety regulations. Ponkor stressed that roads are shared spaces, and riders must responsibly operate their vehicles without endangering others.

He warned that the police will no longer accept riders' excuses when apprehended for reckless driving, and such offenders will face prosecution. Ponkor urged Okada and pragia operators to adopt a more safety-conscious attitude to reduce accidents and save lives.
