(Asiad) Lee Ha-sung collects silver in wushu

NAGOYA, Japan — At the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, South Korean wushu athlete Lee Ha-sung secured silver in men's daoshu and gunshu events, marking his second career medal at the continental competition. Lee achieved a score of 19.406 points in daoshu, a choreographed routine using a single-edged broadsword, placing him just behind Chinese competitor Gao Xiaobin, who amassed 19.582 points. Malaysia's Clement Su Wei Ting claimed the bronze with 19.403 points.

In both daoshu and gunshu, competitors were judged on three criteria out of a possible 10 points: quality of movements (5.00), overall performance (2.00), and degree of difficulty (2.00). Lee attained a score of 9.706 in daoshu, trailing Gao by only 0.080 points. In gunshu, a fast-paced event involving routines executed with a staff, Lee placed fourth with 9.700 points, while Gao led with 9.796.

This silver medal marks South Korea's second wushu medal at the 2018 Asiad, following An Hyeon-gi's bronze in men's taijiquan and taijijian event the previous day. Lee had previously won a gold medal at the 2014 Asiad in the same host city.
