Anwar: Negeri Sembilan MB and executive council’s bid to remove ruler was ‘rude and uncivilised’

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed his disapproval of the bid by the Negeri Sembilan menteri besar and state executive council to remove Tuanku Muhriz as the ruler. Anwar called the move "rude and uncivilised", stating that no state-level authority has the power to question or change the position of the Ruler. The crisis in Negeri Sembilan has become more complex, with Datuk Ismail Lasim previously announcing that the proclamation to remove Tuanku Muhriz had been approved by the state executive council.

Anwar stressed that the federal government is not interfering, as the issue of dethroning a Ruler is not simple and must follow established procedures. He affirmed Tuanku Muhriz as the lawful Yang di-Pertuan Besar because the court had ruled in his favor. Anwar noted that the Undang Luak can make decisions on the ruler's position, but those decisions are not absolute and must follow the rules.

He emphasized the importance of resolving conflicting claims among the Undang before making any decision, as any decision made by the appropriately appointed Undang following the correct process would fall outside the federal government's jurisdiction.
