Ahsan Iqbal Announces 15,000 Jobs for Karachi

Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has revealed that the soon-to-be-established IT Park in Karachi is projected to generate 15,000 employment opportunities and contribute up to $100 million annually to ICT exports. This key IT initiative, part of the government's Uraan Pakistan program, is being spearheaded by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) and is situated near Jinnah International Airport.

The IT Park will span approximately 1.18 million square feet and encompass 220 contemporary offices, 30 spaces for startups, and a Tier-III data center, all aimed at establishing Karachi as a regional technology hub. The project has been allocated Rs. 3.75 billion by the government for the 2026-27 fiscal year. This development is set to bolster Pakistan's digital economy and enhance its export capabilities.

The IT Park is currently under construction, and a recent National Assembly committee report indicated that the project is still in its early stages, prompting authorities to expedite the process.
