2027 will be APC vs. Nigerians – Makinde

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), has stated that the 2027 presidential election will be a clash between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and ordinary Nigerians, rather than between political parties. During a town hall meeting in Katsina, Makinde urged citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and actively participate in the election.

He announced that the APM's "Reset Nigeria" agenda focuses on the economy, education, insecurity, and institutional reforms to build a country that benefits all citizens irrespective of their tribe, religion, or region.

Refuting claims by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Makinde clarified that the alleged ₦50 billion provided by the Federal Government to upgrade the Ibadan Airport is false. He emphasized that the project is solely funded by the Oyo State Government.

Concerning security, Makinde expressed worry over the escalating violence, citing the recent killing of 37 young Nigerians in Niger State. He criticized President Tinubu for not formally transferring executive power to Vice President Kashim Shettima during frequent foreign trips, in violation of Section 145 of the Nigerian Constitution. Makinde assured that he would adhere to this constitutional requirement if elected.

Lawal Musa Daura, the APM's vice-presidential candidate and former DSS Director-General, highlighted insecurity and poverty as the main challenges facing the Northwest region. He praised the APM ticket as a potential solution, promising systematic national restoration. Daura called upon citizens to fulfill their civic duty within legal limits and support the APM campaign to restore peace and economic stability nationwide.
