20,000 police personnel, 10K CCTV cameras, 24 drones to be deployed across Hyderabad for Ganesh idol immersion

Hyderabad City Police have implemented extensive security measures for the concluding Ganesh immersion procession on Friday. Nearly 20,000 police officers, over 10,000 CCTV cameras, and 24 drones will be deployed across the city to manage the anticipated influx of millions of devotees and thousands of Ganesha idols from various districts.

The extensive preparations, initiated three months ago, include additional security at popular immersion sites such as Khairatabad and Balapur, where around 25 lakh and 15 lakh devotees have already visited respectively. The authorities have set up control rooms, integrated CCTV cameras with the Telangana State Police Integrated Command and Control Centre, and deployed drones and high-rise cameras to monitor crowd movement and procession routes.

Around 20,000 personnel from various departments, along with additional personnel from other districts, will be stationed in seven security zones, including Rapid Action Force and Central Armed Reserve Force units. The police have also banned DJ systems, sound mixers, high-decibel audio equipment, and firecrackers during the procession in compliance with Supreme Court guidelines on noise pollution and public health.
