World : Trump Says US-Iran Talks Have ‘Momentum’, Could Lead To Deal

US President Donald Trump declared on Tuesday that discussions with Iran have gained momentum and could potentially result in a deal, although he cautioned that the United States might resort to additional military action against Iranian nuclear facilities if required. This statement came during a multilateral meeting with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations and Turkey, which took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Trump expressed his pleasure at being surrounded by America's closest allies, friends, and partners, emphasizing their collective pursuit of a safer and more prosperous Middle East. He mentioned that US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner had engaged in a productive conversation with mediators involved in efforts to engage Iran, stating that there is considerable momentum for a deal.

Trump reiterated that the primary objective of the US intervention was to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, claiming that several Iranian nuclear sites had been destroyed. He also mentioned the possibility of striking another Iranian facility, referred to as Pickaxe Mountain, if significant activity is detected there.

Trump further discussed the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting the significant increase in oil flows through the waterway since the war began. He expressed optimism that the situation with Iran could be resolved either after the US midterm elections in November or potentially earlier. Trump concluded by noting that the war would ultimately lead to either a deal or a quick end to the fighting.
