Wike tackles Senator Kingibe over FCT loan allegations

Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has rejected Senator Ireti Kingibe's claims that he obtained loans for capital projects in the FCT without the National Assembly's approval. During a visit to ongoing projects in Abuja, Wike criticized Kingibe's lack of understanding of legislative and financial procedures. He questioned how any government official could bypass the legislature to secure such loans.

Wike emphasized that all loans for projects must be included in the budget and approved by the National Assembly. He dismissed Kingibe's relevance in the FCT political scene, noting that the people have already aligned their support with President Bola Tinubu's administration and Philip Aduda, who represented FCT in the previous Senate.

Wike suggested that Kingibe's accusations were due to her confusion about the rapid pace of infrastructure development in Abuja. He claimed that she initially criticized his administration for inactivity and then shifted her focus once she saw the physical results. Wike argued that if any loans were taken, they should be used to fulfill the interests of the residents.
