Wike hails First Lady Oluremi Tinubu at 66, says she’s pillar of support for Nigerians

Arise Television's Morning Show anchor Rufai Oseni expressed his opinion that President Bola Tinubu can effectively govern Nigeria from France if he so desires, emphasizing that Nigerians elected him and should not complain about his frequent absences. Oseni made this assertion during the show's discussion on Tinubu's recent foreign trips.

He contended that Nigerians should accept the reality of Tinubu's frequent international trips, as they voted for him with this expectation in mind. "You get what you vote for, and I don’t know why Nigerians are complaining," Oseni stated. "President Tinubu has shown you that he’s constantly going to be away, that he is more at peace in France than any part of the world.

So you voted him in." The anchor also questioned the cost-effectiveness of Tinubu's foreign trips, specifically the N37 billion reportedly spent on these outings. Oseni wondered what tangible investments had returned to Nigeria as a result of the extensive travel. He stressed the importance of a cost-benefit analysis when evaluating these trips, focusing on the final investment destination rather than abstract intentions or memorandums of understanding.

Oseni further criticized Tinubu's continued absence from Nigeria during the tragic mining disaster in Niger State, arguing that the incident should have prompted the President to return to the country to lead the response. He suggested that even for the purpose of optics, Tinubu could have made an appearance to demonstrate his concern and commitment to addressing the situation.

Oseni acknowledged that if Tinubu believed he could effectively direct the affairs of the country from abroad, he could continue to do so. However, he also noted that if Tinubu felt he could manage remotely, he could opt to do so. In essence, Oseni maintained that Nigerians voted for Tinubu's lifestyle and modus operandi, and that it is not a problem provided that he is satisfied with his decision.
