Vonder may have solved the 'pervert glasses' problem — and the nerd factor, too

When Vonder introduced their new line of smart glasses, they aimed to tackle the issue of creepy behavior associated with such devices, while also providing an improved user experience. Unlike competitors such as Meta and Google, Vonder’s glasses focus on quietly observing your daily activities to provide holistic advice and guidance based on your preferences and previous decisions.

The glasses operate in the background, offering features like music playback, navigation, calls, and calendar appointments through voice commands. More importantly, Vonder’s glasses create a Personal Memory Graph, a map of your mind, to draw connections between various aspects of your life. This allows the glasses to offer more personalized recommendations when you ask for something, utilizing the most appropriate Large Language Model (LLM) to generate tailored results.

For instance, if you request a coffee shop nearby, the glasses may filter your query through Gemini and provide Google’s AI with personalized information on your preferred coffee type for more accurate results. The glasses use bone-conducting microphones to capture only your voice, filtering out other voices and enabling you to record conversations by pressing a button.

A small white LED on the glasses indicates when recording is active. Unlike other smart glasses, Vonder’s devices are relatively lightweight, weighing only 30 grams, and come in six stylish frame designs. Battery life is comparable to competitors, lasting around 8 hours. At launch, the glasses will be available in six frame styles (Antwerp, Paris, Basel, Oslo, Palermo, and Tribeca) and various lens options, including prescription, transition, and other tints, priced starting at $299 with additional lens options adding to the cost.

To maximize the benefits of Vonder’s glasses, a subscription is required, starting at $9.99 per month for basic features and $99 per month for the premium tier with unlimited voice requests.
