Donald Trump opened his address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday by lavishing praise on the United States. "America is back," he declared, asserting that the nation leads in nearly every area. He boasted that America was in better shape than ever before, stating, "Two years ago, our country was on its knees, now we're the most fashionable country in the world."

However, Trump's current situation appears to be far from ideal. Recent Reuters and Ipsos survey results show his approval ratings in the American public have hit an all-time low. The ongoing conflict between the US and Iran shows no sign of ending, leading to high gasoline prices and widespread American discontent. This comes at a particularly challenging time for Trump, as the upcoming November midterm elections for the US Congress are approaching.

Amidst all this, Trump maintained a facade of being a peacemaker. "It was a great honor for me to end eight wars," he said, despite repeated fact-checks and independent experts debunking his claim. "No progress has been made in the war in Ukraine," Trump promised during his UN speech, adding that the conflict would end sooner than people think.

His negotiators, his son-in-law Jared Kushner and special envoy Steve Witkoff, returned from talks with Iranian leader, Wladimir Putin, in early September without any results. Trump also vowed to end the war with Iran soon and threatened to completely annihilate the Islamic Republic. He imagined a scenario where Iran would experience no chance of survival or hope for future greatness.

Trump stated that he believed a deal with Iran would be struck right after the elections, as it would not make sense for them to persist in this destructive path. The recent "Operation Economic Outcast" against Iran, involving economic sanctions, is another measure aimed at persuading the regime in Tehran to make concessions. Observers suspect that Trump may have to rely on his military's capabilities due to dwindling ammunition supplies in the US.

At the UN, Trump once again emphasized his attacks on international institutions. He promoted his own peace council, an alternative organization led by Trump himself, and praised the "almost 30 countries" that have joined it, including Kazakhstan, Qatar, and Uzbekistan. At the same time, he reiterated his harsh criticism of the International Criminal Court (ICC), calling it "cruel" and demanding that all states that are members of the ICC immediately withdraw from the institution.

The US has recently increased pressure on the ICC, imposing sanctions on its representatives and urging NATO members to withdraw from the Rome Statute of 1998.
