UK to provide Saudi Arabia with military support against Houthis

The UK has announced it will provide military support to Saudi Arabia in its ongoing conflict with the Houthi rebels in Yemen. Defence Minister Luke Pollard stated that the UK would deploy an RAF Voyager plane, operating from a base in Cyprus, for air-to-air refuelling operations to assist Saudi aircraft in their air strikes against the Houthis.

This move comes following a request from Saudi Arabia, which has been conducting air strikes against Yemen's Houthis as the country's conflict has resumed. Pollard emphasized that the support would comply with international humanitarian law, stating that "in dangerous times, good friends stand together." The UK's decision aligns with its interest in maintaining regional stability in the Middle East and ensuring the security of its national interests.
