Uhuru convenes Jubilee meeting as Ukombozi Alliance takes shape

Nairobi, Kenya - Former President Uhuru Kenyatta will convene a Jubilee Party meeting on Tuesday as the rebranded Ukombozi Alliance prepares to organize its leadership and strategy ahead of the 2027 General Election. The meeting follows the opposition leaders' announcement of the Ukombozi Alliance's rebranding, just a day after the Coalition's name change.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka stated that the Jubilee meeting would be crucial in making decisions and communicating them to the wider Ukombozi Alliance. The coalition chair, Uhuru Kenyatta, will convene the meeting to ensure the group moves forward in unity. Kalonzo announced the rebranding unanimously among the coalition's leadership on Monday, stating that the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition would officially become the Ukombozi Alliance.

The new alliance aims to unite opposition parties and political leaders to form a joint platform for the upcoming 2027 elections, using the slogan "One Term, One Team, One Coalition." Uhuru Kenyatta's influence in Jubilee's affairs continues to be significant despite his departure from office in 2022. The meeting also coincides with discussions surrounding the delayed handover of the Jubilee Party chairmanship, with Uhuru's office indicating his willingness to facilitate the transition.
