Trump says deciding between deal or driving Iran 'into hell'

On Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the United Nations General Assembly and disclosed that he faced a critical decision regarding Iran. The President stated that he had to choose between striking Iran in a decisive manner or reaching a deal that would enable the nation to rebuild and potentially become one of the most powerful countries in the Middle East or even globally.

Trump pondered the consequences of either scenario, asking whether it would be more advantageous to annihilate the Islamic Republic and prevent it from causing further harm and destruction or to allow for the possibility of a mutually beneficial agreement. He emphasized that driving Iran into "hell" with no chance of survival or future prosperity was a possibility he would not rule out.

However, the President also reiterated his belief that an agreement with Iran was still plausible before the upcoming U.S. midterm elections in November. During these elections, Trump's Republican party faced the risk of losing control of Congress, which was partly attributed to rising fuel prices resulting from the ongoing war.

Trump asserted that it made no sense for Iran to refuse an agreement, as they were waiting to see how he performed in the midterm election. He further noted that they failed to comprehend that he was not ruling out any options.
