Tiger attack claims Orang Asli man's life in Sungai Siput

An Orang Asli man, Zamberi Angah, 42, tragically lost his life after being attacked by a tiger in Sungai Siput, Malaysia, on Wednesday. Zamberi was searching for forest produce in Kampung Takung, Perwor, when the fatal encounter occurred. His body was discovered in a bamboo grove, approximately 200 meters from the site of the attack.

Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun, the Lintang assemblyman, informed that Zamberi had been searching for rattan with a friend along a logging road when the incident took place. The Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) was informed about the incident at around 4:30 PM, leading to the initiation of a search operation at 6:30 PM. Perhilitan officials, along with police, Malaysian Volunteer Corps members, and about 30 villagers and logging workers, joined the search effort.

Evidence of the tiger's presence, including paw prints, was found at the location where Zamberi's body was discovered. The Lintang assemblyman expressed his condolences to the victim's family and offered assistance to alleviate their distress. The Sungai Siput deputy district police chief confirmed the incident and stated that a tiger trap would be set up between Kampung Takung and the Korbu Forest Reserve.
