Teen raped by 3 men posing as cops at Delhi park

In Southeast Delhi, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by three men who posed as police officers, according to police officers. The incident occurred on Monday evening, around 7 pm, after the victim and her 17-year-old male friend visited the Kalkaji Mandir for prayers. At 7:30 pm, they ventured into a nearby park for a walk.

It was then that the trio approached the teenagers, claiming to be policemen and questioning them about their whereabouts. Threatening legal consequences, they then allegedly assaulted the girl before fleeing the scene. A post-rape call was placed at 8:45 pm, and police arrived on the scene promptly, conducting a medical examination on the victim.

A case under the POCSO Act was subsequently registered. According to the victim, one of the accused held her friend while the others took turns assaulting her. The three suspects remain at large, with police scanning CCTV footage to identify them and questioning eyewitnesses in the vicinity. This is not the first instance of a similar crime in the capital; in the past month alone, there have been at least four other cases of rape against children and teenagers.

Just four days prior, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped and subsequently stabbed to death in Outer North Delhi by her friend and three accomplices, all of whom are minors and have since been apprehended. On August 4, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped on a sleeper bus that traveled 47 km from Greater Noida to Kashmere Gate in Old Delhi without being inspected by any police picket.

Following a brief encounter, one of the accused, Asif, was apprehended, sustaining a bullet injury to his leg. Police officials stated that the other two will be apprehended soon.
