Somerset bounces back with dominant homecoming victory

The Somerset Briar Jumpers delivered a dominant homecoming victory against Green County, bouncing back from their initial loss of the season with a convincing 60-0 win. The game marked the team's first district win of the season. Early in the first quarter, Corban Cimala scored on a 40-yard run, putting the Jumpers ahead 7-0. Cimala added another touchdown shortly after, extending the lead to 14-0.

Xavier Wooldridge returned a punt for a touchdown, pushing Somerset's lead to 20-0. Drew Anderson then intercepted a Green County pass and returned it for a fourth touchdown, boosting the score to 27-0.

The Jumpers maintained their lead throughout the first quarter, adding a touchdown in the final moments. During the second quarter, Chase Crawford and Jaron Childrey made significant contributions, leading to a 41-0 score. In the third quarter, another touchdown extended the lead to 48-0. Late in the quarter, a pass from Crawford to Ethan McCrystal added to Somerset's total, resulting in a 54-0 advantage.

Somerset completed the blowout in the fourth quarter with a final touchdown, reaching a final score of 60-0. Quarterback Turner completed 4 of 4 passes for 93 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for a touchdown. Cimala provided 75 yards on two touchdown runs, with Childrey contributing 41 yards on six carries and a touchdown.

Receiver Decker had two receptions for 50 yards, while Brashears and McCrystal each had two receptions and a touchdown, amassing 43 and 39 yards respectively. Somerset's record improved to 4-1, starting their district play at a perfect 1-0, while they will face Metcalfe County Hornets next in a homecoming game scheduled for 7 p.m. central time.
