Ruto calls for technology driven growth in Africa at UN General Assembly

President William Ruto urged African nations to view technology as a catalyst for economic expansion during his address at the United Nations General Assembly's High-Level Convening on the ‘Accra Reset’. Speaking at the event on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, Ruto emphasized that technology plays a crucial role in fostering sustainable competitiveness and propelling African countries toward middle-income status.

He emphasized the importance of organizing Africa's resources at scale, bolstering its technological capabilities, and converting innovation into enhanced productivity, fresh enterprises, and prospects for its populace. As the Head of State, Ruto highlighted Kenya's stewardship of the MasterKey Corridor, which links African skills and credentials with opportunities across borders.

He stressed the necessity of Africa becoming a creator of the technologies governing the '21st century' and a participant in shaping the rules governing them. Ruto stressed that the Accra Reset offers a practical platform to advance this goal and ensure that technological advancements generate shared prosperity.
