Rams news: Aaron Donald has perfect reaction to win over Giants

Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald made a triumphant return to the field at SoFi Stadium, contributing to his team's 28-6 victory over the New York Giants on Monday night. After a 32-month absence due to his previous season opener, Donald debuted with three tackles, including a tackle for loss, playing 32 defensive snaps.

The three-time AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year praised the win, stating, "It was a good start, good win. Enjoy it today and right back to work tomorrow." Donald’s standout moment came late in the second quarter when he stopped Giants running back Najee Harris for a 3-yard loss, helping to secure New York's final field goal. The Rams defense limited New York to 182 total yards and intercepted Jameis Winston, who replaced injured quarterback Jaxson Dart.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Davante Adams led the offense with Stafford completing 22 of 31 passes for 327 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception, while Adams caught eight passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns. Trent McDuffie also made his first interception as a Ram and recorded four passes defended, setting a new single-game career high.

This victory marked Donald's second stint with the Rams, following his one-year, $20 million deal signed last month. Originally drafted by the Rams in 2014, he retired in 2024 after 10 seasons, amassing 111 sacks and 53 tackles in his career. The Rams will face the Denver Broncos on Sunday night.
