Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite Chips To Power Googlebooks

Qualcomm has announced that it will bring its Snapdragon X Elite chips to Googlebooks. This is not a universal rollout, as Acer has already announced its own model running an Intel processor. The chipmaker claims that Dell and HP will be the first other brands to market Googlebooks with its Snapdragon X Elite chips. Googlebooks represent the fusion of "the best of Android, which comes with powerful apps on Google Play and a modern OS that's designed for Intelligence, and ChromeOS, which comes with the world's most popular browser".

Google describes it as a shared Android foundation, allowing phones and laptops to work seamlessly together. Kedar Kondap, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Compute & Gaming at Qualcomm, stated that Snapdragon X Elite provides "extraordinary performance and efficiency, now paired with support for native Android apps and games for Googlebook users".

Qualcomm and Google have partnered to enable cutting-edge capabilities in this new category of laptops, designed for cross-device continuity for users of Android phones powered by Snapdragon. Notably, these Googlebooks use the first-generation Snapdragon X Elite, not the newer X2 Elite. The companies may have opted for the older chip for cost reasons, but the Snapdragon-powered Googlebooks are not the most affordable of the initial models. The newer chip also generates more heat due to its increased power.
