QIC, WIS Group mark GCC partnership with signing ceremony at Arabian Travel Market

Dubai: Qatar Insurance (QIC) and Dubai-based InsurTech WIS Group recently signed a partnership agreement at Arabian Travel Market, coinciding with the event where more than 650 of their GCC partners were present. The collaboration focuses on providing an insurance issuance and management platform for travel and pet insurance products through WISConnectz, WIS' API-first platform.

This platform connects travel agencies, airlines, brokers, and affinity partners, enabling a single integration for protection products. The partnership aims to shorten the route to market, allowing multiple protection products to be offered without substantial technological advancements. The platform has already been tested during regional airspace closures and flight suspensions, when QIC built TravelSecure, a crisis-related protection product, within weeks instead of quarters.

The agreement benefits travel trade by providing a protection layer for specific crisis events, underwritten by QIC and distributed via WIS. QIC's Group CEO, Salem Al Mannai, emphasized the company's commitment to strengthening protection across the GCC travel sector through strategic collaborations with technology-driven partners like WIS.

WIS Group CEO, Jonathan Cooper, highlighted that the partnership empowers travel experts to offer necessary protection to customers through recognized insurer brands within their existing booking flows. Both companies also mentioned 24/7 Global Travel Assistance support through AXA Partners' global network. QIC, WIS Group, and AXA Partners exhibited together at Arabian Travel Market until September 17th.
