Pune: PMC Makes Electrical Arrangements At Ganesh Immersion Ghats

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has implemented comprehensive electrical and safety measures at major Ganesh immersion ghats in the city ahead of the immersion processions planned for September 25 and 26. The Electrical Department has installed floodlights and high-mast lights at around 277 locations, with nearly 1,530 floodlights deployed to ensure adequate lighting and safety for citizens and devotees during the processions.

Additionally, approximately 390 CCTV cameras have been installed at 14 key locations to monitor immersion sites and surrounding areas. The PMC has focused on essential immersion ghats along the Mula-Mutha river such as Mhatre Bridge Ghat, Garware College Ghat, Sangam Ghat, and Bund Garden Ghat, as well as artificial immersion sites set up by various ward offices.

To safeguard against potential disruptions due to technical or power-related issues, backup generators have been arranged and will be kept on standby. The Electrical Department will maintain a 24-hour presence during the immersion period. CCTV systems have been installed at immersion ghats and strategic locations to enhance safety and surveillance.

Security personnel, lifeguards, and first-aid teams will remain on duty around the clock near the ghats and water bodies to promptly address emergencies. The PMC has urged citizens to refrain from touching electrical wires, panels, or light poles at immersion sites and emphasized cooperation with civic authorities to adhere to safety guidelines during the festivities.
