Police deny land-grabbing allegation against Rivers CP

The Rivers State Police Command has refuted allegations that Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju was involved in land grabbing at Victory Estate in the Rumuosi community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. The command stated that the claims were false and misleading. The protesters, including the Rumuosi Council of Chiefs and residents, accused Adepoju of conspiring with land grabbers to dispossess locals of their ancestral land.

However, the command clarified that Adepoju's role was limited to providing security for a court bailiff executing a judgment. The command's spokesperson, ASP Blessing Agabe, stated that Adepoju only provided police protection for a court bailiff executing a judgment and did not participate physically in the execution or grab any land.

The command further noted that the judgment related to land in Rumuagholu Community and not Victory Estate, Rumuosi. The Commissioner of Police immediately halted the execution upon objections from residents, who claimed the judgment did not cover their property. The command also mentioned a separate case, Suit No. PHC/1467/FHR/2026, currently before the Rivers State High Court, which would determine any further issues.

The command warned all police officers in Rivers State against engaging in land-related matters without proper authorization and legal backing.
