Ondo denies approving N8,000 blood test in secondary school

The Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has denied involvement in a purported blood-testing exercise at CAC Adu Memorial Grammar School in Oke-Aro, Akure. The ministry clarified in a statement that they neither authorized nor approved the exercise, emphasizing that no school principal has the authority to organize such an event or impose financial charges on students without proper authorization.

The ministry expressed particular concern over the allegation that students were expected to pay N8,000 for the blood test, noting that such a requirement has not been approved by the ministry. They stated that any such collection, if proven true, would have been conducted without the ministry's authorization. The ministry informed the authorities about the reported involvement of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the matter for a thorough investigation.

They advised school principals and administrators to comply with government policies and regulations, warning against unauthorized financial charges that could harm the state's education system. The ministry emphasized the importance of reporting any irregularities in public schools to the appropriate authorities, promising to take disciplinary action against any officer found liable.
